SUPPORTING FAMILIES THROUGH FOOD ASSISTANCE

Fundación Amor por RD provided food assistance to vulnerable families in Los Mina, helping address food insecurity during the holiday season and year-end school break.

A total of 201 food buckets were distributed to student households, school support staff, and parents with disabilities or health conditions that limited their mobility. To ensure equitable access, home deliveries were made to beneficiaries unable to travel. Each food bucket contained essential staples, including rice, oats, cooking oil, tomato paste, sardines, corn flour, milk, pasta, cereal, and nutritious snack bars.

This initiative helped strengthen food security, reduce external challenges that can affect student learning, and reinforce the connection between families, schools, and the broader community. By supporting both educational and basic household needs, Fundación Amor por RD continues to advance its holistic approach to community development and student success.

FERNANDO's graduation

Fundación Amor por RD celebrated the graduation of its second scholarship recipient in the Dominican Republic. Fernando Manuel Tapia Campusano earned a Bachelor's Degree in Accounting from UNEV and graduated with Cum Laude honors for his academic excellence.

After a sports injury ended his hopes of pursuing a professional baseball career, Fernando chose to invest in his education and future. With the support of Fundación Amor por RD’s Scholarship Program, international sponsors, and his own perseverance, he successfully completed his university studies and is now contributing to his community through meaningful employment.

Fernando’s achievement demonstrates the life-changing impact of education and the opportunities that become possible when talented young people receive the support they need to succeed.

EDUCATION THROUGH SPORTS

As part of School Sports Week, Fundación Amor por RD participated in a series of athletic competitions and educational activities designed to promote the connection between sports and academic success. The initiative reflects our belief that education and sports together help build well-rounded, resilient young people.

The event featured inspiring appearances by professional athletes, including boxer María García, volleyball stars Clariluz and Gina Mambrú of the Dominican National Team (Las Reinas del Caribe), and professional bowler Aumi Guerra. They shared personal stories about discipline, perseverance, and the importance of education in achieving long-term success. Students participated in sports competitions, academic trivia, team-building activities, and leadership development sessions that combined physical activity with learning and character development.

The event engaged 450 students, along with coaches and teachers, fostering teamwork, motivation, healthy habits, and a stronger commitment to education. By integrating sports into the learning experience, Fundación Amor por RD helps promote youth leadership, prevent social risks, encourage school retention, and support the holistic development of every student.

batting cage and pitching machine for our youth

In 2024, Fundación Amor por RD celebrated the opening of a newly constructed batting cage at the Juan Bautista Zafra Sports Complex in Los Mina. Built atop the complex’s clubhouse, the facility features an Iron Mike MP-5 professional pitching machine and spectator seating, creating a unique training environment for young athletes and their families.

Made possible through the generosity of a private donor, this project was dedicated to the children and youth of Los Mina, providing access to resources rarely available in underserved communities. According to Alberto Rodriguez, Director of INEFI, the pitching machine is believed to be the only professional-grade pitching machine located at a public baseball field in the Dominican Republic, offering aspiring players the opportunity to train with equipment commonly found in elite baseball programs. More than a sports facility, the batting cage represents a place of opportunity, growth, and hope. It provides a safe and structured environment where young people can develop athletic skills while learning discipline, perseverance, teamwork, and responsibility.

This investment reflects our commitment to creating opportunities that inspire children to dream bigger, work harder, and build brighter futures for themselves and their communities.
